Wow. What a compliment that if God did coach, he would coach like your dad. Mike ran in high school and I’ll bet he would have loved having your dad as his coach.
That story about the spikes is crazy. Way to go Willy! It’s amazing that your dad never really talked about his huge accomplishments. What a humble man!!!
It’s so amazing that he brought so much to Dixie!!
Power of the pack is a cool concept. That is so sweet that he picked them up in his truck. What great lessons he taught with regard to cheering for others, being prepared, effective cheering, and being there for others at their most difficult moments. You are remarkable at lifting others. Thanks for sharing. What a remarkable man!!
Great story!, I heard about some of your Dad’s fame from his brother Chuck who we would visit every christmas. Your Dad is a great human being! He was always pretty quiet. I wish I could have spent more time around him!

Wow! Such an inspirational story! Thank you so much for sharing about your dad….he reminds me so much of my dad, I wish I had been able to make it out there to see you all, as your cousin I feel like I missed out on so much! You have a gift for storytelling and you are so right. These stories and the choices made are indeed history. Thank you for keeping history alive in such a powerful way! The apple definitely did not fall far from the tree😊

I was on coach Comeford’s cross-country team in high school. My senior year, the boy’s team won the state championship, and the girl’s team took second place. Coach Comeford would always have the boys line up along the course to cheer on the girl’s team, and the girls would line up along the course to cheer on the boy’s team. The varsity team would cheer on the JV team, and vice versa. There were probably 65 kids on the teams that year, and we were all friends. It was a great environment, and I have many fond memories of those practices, races, and road trips.
